Pai Gow Poker Rules

Pai Gow Poker has always been a very popular game globally and it has been spreading through North America the past decade or so. In Pai Gow Poker there can be a total of 1-6 players and 1 banker playing with each player and the banker being dealt seven cards each.

With the seven cards you’re dealt you need to make a five card poker hand and a two card poker hand. Your five card hand needs to be of higher value then your two card hand so always make sure it is or else you will automatically lose the hand and your cards will be folded.

The objective of the game is to beat the banker and in order to win any money in the hand you need to win both the five cards and two card hands. If you tie (copy) the banker’s hands then you lose to the banker and if you both win one hand then the hand is a push and you get your bet back.

When the internet poker games initially starts the dealer at the table will be the banker for the first one or two hands. After the first one or two hands the dealer will offer the player to his/her left the option to become the banker. It continues clockwise every one or two hands for the remainder of the game. If you don’t want to be the banker you have the option of passing. You automatically will need to pass being the banker if you can’t payout the players bets on the table.

As the banker you would be playing against every player at the table and if they win the hand then you would need to pay them out. If they don’t win though or you push you would win since you’re the banker. The payouts for Pai Gow Poker are as followed.

* If the player wins the banker pays out the player 1:1 minus a 5% house fee
* If the banker wins he collects the bet from the player and pays the house 5% commission
* If the hand is tied between the player and the banker then no money is sent to anyone

The game of EverestPoker is played with a joker as well and it’s important to note that the joker is out there because it can cost you. It’s also important to remember that the hand rankings are generally the same as all poker games except the fact that five aces beats a royal flush. To get five aces you would need the four aces in the deck plus the joker in your hand.

Pai Gow Poker is a really simple game to learn and begin playing, but I would suggest just playing as a player at first until you learn the game. Being the banker can be profitable if you have a good hand, but if you get dealt a bad hand then it could cost you a lot of money paying out the players on the table who beat you.
